Tide today
Up to the coconut's eyes: mask on. The water is going out: low tide at 22:52.
Today: low tide at 22:52, high tide at 13:25.
UV index 6: high. The harsh sun is behind: the sand is fine.
The tide here
At low tide the water goes far out and the bay is shallow: swim at mid to high water. Roughly from December to March the high tide is high and swimming is good; from April to November you have to time a swim to the daytime high tide.
About the beach
The fishing village's beach in the north of the island: a long sandy curve in front of the village, with a pier in the middle and fishing longtails moored off the shore and pulled up on the sand. The sand is pale and soft, the entry gentle. West of the village is Malibu Beach, which has its own page.
The village is a working one, quiet and not touristy: seafood restaurants, cafes, dive shops, a 7-Eleven. There are no sunbeds or umbrellas on the sand. The bay opens to the north, and the sun sets behind the hills, not into the sea.
Getting there
About 10.5 km north of Thong Sala pier on the paved road, 20–30 minutes. Park by the pier or on the main street.
Good to know
- Swim away from the pier and the boats, west or east of the village
- No snorkelling here: the bay's coral is mostly dead; for a reef go to Haad Khom
- Longtails to Bottle Beach and Haad Khom leave from the pier
