Tide today
Waist-deep on the coconut. The water is going out: low tide at 20:47.
Today: low tide at 20:47, high tide at 12:26.
UV index 1: low. The harsh sun is behind: the sand is fine.
The tide here
Deep water close to the shore: you can swim at low tide too, all year round when the sea is calm. A rarity on this island.
About the beach
A bay on the east coast north of Haad Rin. Fine white sand and a soft bottom with no stones where you swim; granite boulders at both ends, crossed by wooden walkways to bars and restaurants on stilts. It faces east-south-east, to the sunrise.
A few small resorts and bungalows, from simple huts to the upmarket Pariya, restaurants and beach bars; the sunbeds belong to the resorts, so order something to use one. Quiet on weekdays; in season, Saturday nights are parties at Eden on the rocks.
Getting there
Usually by longtail from Haad Rin (Sunrise Beach), 10–15 minutes, with little shade on the boats. When the waves are up the boats stop, and the only way is a 4x4 taxi over the jungle track.
There is no paved road: the track is steep and rough, and scooters are strongly discouraged. On foot, a jungle trail from Haad Rin takes an hour and a half to two and a half hours; it is steep, so bring water and proper shoes.
Good to know
- Longtails to Haad Yuan wait on Sunrise Beach in Haad Rin, mostly at its southern end
- In a fresh easterly the water turns murky and the boats may not run: allow a spare day if you are staying here
