About the place
Thong Sala's Saturday evening market. Once a week Talat Kao Road, often called Chinese Street, is closed to cars and fills with stalls: street food, clothes, jewellery, crafts, souvenirs. There is live music.
Phantip runs every day and is mostly about food. Here people also come to stroll and shop. It starts at four or five in the afternoon and winds down around ten.
Getting there
About 500 metres from Thong Sala pier, a few minutes on foot: the street runs along the shore east of the pier. On Saturday evening it is closed to traffic, so leave the scooter in a side street.
Good to know
- Saturdays only. On Sundays Chaloklum has its own walking street
- Bring cash: hardly any stall takes cards
- Phantip is a couple of hundred metres away for dinner before or after
