Authorities are getting ready to inspect hotels on Samui and Phangan.

The Ministry of the Interior has ordered Surat Thani officials to crack down hard on hotels operating without a licence and on nominee shareholder schemes. District chiefs have been told to check ads and bookings across all digital platforms.

There are still many undeclared establishments on Samui, Phangan, and Tao. If local officials can’t handle it, special intervention units will come to the districts and sort things out themselves — at which point they’ll also examine who among those responsible let what slip.
